Isabel Marant for HM 14 November 2013

I wrote about Isabel Marant for HM here.

I went to the Stella McCartney and Jimmy Choo collaborations and they were quite stressful. I managed to get a piece or two but the hysteria and pushing and  grabbing was a bit much for me. So I decided that, as much as I wanted a few pieces from this collection, I would refrain.

BUT…

It just so happened that a client phoned me to cancel a meeting just as I was walking past the largest HM in Stockholm 90 minutes after opening. I thought ‘well it is meant to be’, went in and it was not too bad. Probably because people are now allowed to buy only one item of each size (to prevent people selling loads of items for huge sums on ebay I imagine) and they had to be returned within 3 days for refund.

I bought the following items:

These floaty chiffon trousers were very much in demand with none left. I found one pair and people were almost ripping them out of my hands. Of course I was delighted, until I tried them on. They looked awful. I wouldn't have even worn them as pajamas. So back they went

This was very nice but a little too expensive (£30) for me for what it was. It also only really looks good on the flat chested, as most hip clothes do, unfortunately. When you have big boobs as I do, things dangle off the precipice and look ridiculous
These were lovely - gorgeous fabric, with button fly and a nice button pocket on the back. And not too expensive.

These are my favorite - really nice thick fabric, a rushed side seam which stretches to hug you nicely and zippered bottoms. They really look nice on.

Overall review of the collection – not the same quality as her luxury line but for the price that is not surprising. It is way better quality than the Karl Lagerfeld collection, for example. For HM though, its pricey – leather trousers for £250 are expensive, even if they are by a top designer. They were lovely though, particularly the black ones.

The price of the whole collection though was lower than the Commes one from last year, because the children’s line had lower prices. There were some nice items in the boy’s collection which would fit a small woman – sweatpants and nice hoodies.

If anyone is keen on this collaboration – check round about now as returns will be coming back to the online and bricks and mortar stores.

The nicest thing for me about Isabel Marant at HM was the bags they packed your purchases in – a nice quality tie dye patterned Isabel Marant bag. They came in two sizes – this is the smaller onephoto
