Here are my two tuxedo cats, Paddy and Fluffy. They are not related and Paddy is 14 years older than Fluffy. Both are inside cats now though Paddy was an inside/outside cat until two years ago. He was cursed by bad luck and I finally decided that if I wanted him to live longer he would not longer be allowed to go out.
When he was one year old he was run over in front of me – his front foot was broken and all his teeth on one side were knocked out. His top tooth sliced through his bottom lip. As soon as he had recovered from that and was allowed out again he was chased up a tree by a fox, where he was stuck for two days being pecked on the head by crows because he was too close to their nest. After that he was in two fights (he is not aggressive but is not afraid which I think is seen as threatening by other cats) which led to infected sores and one serious bone infection. Closely following that was a serious eye infection and a tumour. And then he was run over again – this time he suffered a shattered back leg and kidney failure. So he is now inside and still a happy chappy whom I love dearly. He gets to eat what he want, play with Fluffy and cuddle with his family all day. So overall I think he is happier in than out.
