I am taking a Uniqlo sling bag to South Africa for a family member and popped in to take photos of the colours so she could choose. Every time I see them, I realise what amazing bags they are. Right now they are on sale at $15.
This COS ‘Swing Crossbody’ bag in leather is also really really nice. One of my clients has one in black. The leather is soft, supple and smooth, and it looks gorgeous when worn. It costs $130 but the quality is great.
I spotted these shoes in a shop, and they brought back memories of my then-called ‘Chinese slippers’ in black. The style of those shoes was exactly like this, but in black cotton. I loved those shoes so much. I still see them for sale in Asian shops but people don’t wear them much here.
I donated my old coins to the local charity shop. The oldest ones were from the 1800s
I chuckled at this kitchen set. My mother loved cooking, and she had a beautiful quality cookware set. She bought me a matching toy set when I was little. The set had about 12 pieces, including a little roasting pan, bain marie, frying pan and assorted saucepans. They were the same brand and quality as her set. When I lived by myself, I used to use them for cooking. The frying pan fitted one egg, the roasting pan was big enough for a quarter chicken, the pots were big enough for a single serving of rice. Everyone used to think it was hilarious that I cooked in toy pots but you only need small ones when you are cooking for one.
I found this photograph of myself at the age of 17 with a kitten that we found on the lawn. Always the cat lady!
Wouldn’t it be more convenient for your family member to go to Uniqlo in SA (I know there are a few stores including the huge one in Cape Town). They have shut down a few stores and opened new ones.
Janet, nothing wrong with being a cat lady. I love the uniqlo bags but here in the UK it is still not accepted for men to use crossbody bags. Thank you for sharing these pics and memories.
That’s a pity, though I think some young people nowadays tend to cross the gender divide more easily, wearing makeup and carrying bags. Jacob Elordi – actor who plays Elvis in the movie Priscilla has some really nice bags!
What a lovely post! I am beyond obsessed with the bigger version of the Uniqlo crossbody bag. I hadn’t seen that they had a leather one. The big bag is SO convenient… I wish it was a bit more waterproof because we have some very wet weather at the moment and I have to shield the bag with my jacket or with my arms (when I’m not using an umbrella…).
I loved the Chinese slippers! I love Mary Jane shoes in any incarnation. I had a pair of black ones and I had never seen them in blue. I wouldn’t mind a pair in red if they exist!
