I think it might be an age thing. It’s the same for writing in cursive. My daughter learned to write in cursive and then one year a new kid came in who couldn’t read cursive, so the teacher went back to writing print… Even though these skills are a bit older, I don’t think they should be completely dropped out of the curriculum.
