Spring may be on the way

I spent most of my life in a hot country with no clear seasons. Sun and heat is guaranteed. There may be a rainy couple of weeks but you know that sun and heat will return.

In Sweden, there are four clear seasons. But the weather is not guaranteed, and autumn and spring are very short. The winters are long, cold, dark, and snowy. If spring comes late, there tends to be a sense of desperation by April. Will spring come at all? And if it doesn’t, what happens if summer is grey and rainy (as it often is)? Because after that it is going to get dark and snowy again and we won’t have sun!

So people tend to make the most of every bit of sun and warmth, going outside and doing things before it really is warm enough. Recently we went out for our first ride of the season. It was cold but it was so nice to be out in the rather weak sun.

Happy spring!

  1. Spring is my favourite season. Leaves and flowers coming out, longer days, meals outdoors and temperatures between 20 and 26° c. I don’t really enjoy summer as it is too hot. I much prefer autumn and even winter. We’ve had 17 to 20 degrees here in Paris for a few weeks and it feels perfect after rainy and colder days.
