Different chain lengths

This is something that always flummoxes me. I know how long a 42cm chain is (more or less), but if I am in a shop I have to try them on to see how they fall. When buying online, I tend to measure the ones I have at home to get more of an idea.

Looking at the diagram above, I tend to wear matinée and rope length. Because I have a big bust, the shorter ones either look tiny in the vast expanse, or dangle just on the precipice. The mid-chest and almost waist-lengths suit me way better.

How about you?

  1. Honesty depends on the shirt. I usually (I was a teen in the 90’s) wear choker or collar length. I tend to wear v-necks and scarves, so shorter don’t get lost. I also have a “generous” bust and thanks to Crohn’s Disease (ostomy surgery & a medical appliance) & Ehler’s Danlos (stretchy skin, so a lopsided profile) I tend to not prefer jewelery to accentuate my waistline (that’s the polite way of saying it’ll get caught in my pants/ostomy support belt/clothing while going to the restroom) so I tend to keep my jewellery higher up.

I also have stretched lobe piercings (inaccurate vernacular is “gauges” but that accurately refers to the jewellery) that I wear silicone eyelets in (not huge, IIRC ~4-6g I think? I can never remember) so I can comfortably wear chained/threaded dangling ear jewellery in as a way to bring movement & focus to one’s face & accessories.
