Bits ‘n Bobs

Firstly, I finished The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair, and I really really enjoyed it. I think part of my enjoyment came from the fact that I could not find a bookstore or books anywhere and I found this on a dusty shelf at a tiny supermarket, one of only three English books. I just took it because it seemed the least bad. And it turned out to be really good! It reminded me very much of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

It was nice and long, so took a day or two to read, and there were lots of twists and turns, plus a plot twist at the end. One downside for me was that I didn’t quite feel okay with the fact that there was a relationship between a 15-year old and a 34-year old, though it was not described in detail. And the mother irritated me. Otherwise, I loved it. I have just bought his 2021 book, the Disapperance of Stephanie Mailer.

Also, I wore the sample of Kayali Eden Juicy Apple 01 Eau De Parfum while I was in Tenerife, and I loved it. I don’t wear perfume when I teach at workplaces because I know people can be allergic to fragrance, but this is perfect for weekends, or just if I want to smell nice. It smells so nice and apply with a bit of a peppery snap to it. The sample was a 1.5ml spray bottle and I still have one third of it left. But my 10ml bottle arrived yesterday so I am delighted. I never thought I would wear perfume regularly but this one I really really like! I have not opened it yet – am saving that for when the sample is finished.
