Different words for cleanse-tone-moisturise across cultures

I find it interesting how different countries use different terms for that cleanse-tone-moisturise thing we (should) do twice a day:

  • In the US it tends to be called a regimen or a regime
  • In the UK it tends to be called a routine
  • In Japan it tends to be called a ritual

I really like how in Japan, removing makeup and applying moisturiser is seen as a ritual – a relaxing, calming, soothing part of the day. I find cleansing my face when I get home from work very therapeutic and relaxing. And washing and moisturizing my face in the morning and wakes me up and gets me going for the day ahead.
