David Bowie Advent Calendar

It is well known to all my friends and family that I am a David Bowie fan. I have loved him since I was 15 and even made a special trip to London to visit the Bowie Is retrospective at the V & A two days in a row.

So I was tickled to see this David Bowie advent calendar pop up as a sponsored post on my social media.

I will definitely not be ordering it though, because of the

  • dubious web address
  • very basic web design
  • lack of contact details
  • you are unable to pay via Paypal
  • and pages like the ‘Shipping’ one (screenshot below), make me think the product won’t be as it looks in the photographs, if it arrives at all.

I hate to be suspicious but I learned this lesson the hard way. Websites like these usually don’t even exist anymore by the time you have a problem. You can sometimes also dispute the payment via your card provider (particularly if it is a credit card) but your money is often gone for good.

If any of my readers do order anything though, I would be so happy to be proven wrong!

  1. Massive Bowie fan for numerous years my daughter spent most of her money on this scam and can’t get a refund

  2. Lol it’s all over tik tok. There’s a bunch with Winnie-the-Pooh figures instead of those David Bowie ones advertised. And the Winnie-the-Pooh figures aren’t even legit, they’re also bootlegs 🤣😂😄🙃

  3. Your intuition was 100% correct. It was a total scam..
I didn’t buy it, but I see lots of folks who did. And what laughable figurines, they got in their calendars.

  4. I also have fallen for this scam.. random plastic figures in each box but no David Bowie ones at all! Hugely disappointing a total con!

    1. Did you get a refund or file a claim with your credit card or PayPal? The website I bought from has an address somewhat local to me, however it states their offices are on the 48th floor and according to the building management’s website, the building only has 44 floors. I was planning to pay them a visit and return their products but now that is not possible.

      1. I know you were asking Caroline but when it happened to me (not with this Bowie calendar, but a cat wheel I bought a few months previously from a Facebook ad), I filed a dispute with my credit card company. I could show I had tried to resolve the issue myself and they refunded me.

  5. So I fell for this scam and am trying to get my money back from PayPal. I ordered the deluxe Bowie one and a Walking Dead one. I received 2 “tackle box” style boxes with NFL decoration on the back. One of the windows had already punched through so I peeked inside – it was rock! I pulled the entire cover off and not a single Bowie or Zombie inside. Only 2 NFL related mini figures in the box but the rest was crap – rocks, rubber bracelets, my pretty pony knock off toys, etc. I contacted the company I purchased from and they are less than cooperative. They said I could keep them and they would refund me 20% of what I paid. The website I purchased from is fnfnoo.com but it no longer works. I’m going to post on Reddit as well to try an keep others from falling for this scam as well.

  6. I ordered this a couple weeks ago and I think it’s a scam. I emailed them to see if there was tracking info to the email address that’s listed on their website and it bounced back as undeliverable. I paid with PayPal so I’m going to file a dispute and get my money back. I thought it was a scam because it’s too good to be true. I’m pretty sure those Funko Pops alone go for more than a total cost of the calendar, but I thought maybe they were the cheaper minis so they would be worth less. But I showed it to my fiancé who is a Funko aficionado and he says that one of those Funkos doesn’t even exist. So yeah, scam. :/

    1. I am so sorry that happened to you. I was not even brave enough to try and buy, because the website looked so fake. I have been caught with one of these dodgy websites before – lucky I got my money back from Paypal. Now I report every single one of them to Facebook.
