Gillio Appunto Slim in Epoca Rust

I have had this Gillio Appunto Slim Rust Epoca cover for quite a while now. I bought it cheaper than normal because it was a good deal item. When I received it though, I could not see any irregularities at all, so I am not sure what they are.

This is my first Gillio item in about six years. I was one of the early adopters of Gillio, and the leather on this Appunto is – naturally – different from the Gigliodoro and original Gillio Epoca leather eras of many years ago. It is much lighter, and for portability you can’t go wrong with a lighter cover.

I love the design (by Theresa Hall for Gillio), and the bookmarks are my favourite feature. I don’t like the Hobonichi Weeks built-in bookmarks as they tend to fray, and are very thin. These ones have cute tags on the end and are easy to see and use. When I use this cover, I will probably remove the bookmarks from the book, and use the ones on the cover instead.

It also has a full-length wallet pocket, something I really appreciate, because I always end up with larger papers that I need to store.

I have not used this cover yet, as I am still in my Van Der Spek Janet Leather Codex, and will be until at least the end of the year (I have a Spring Weeks which lasts until April 2022)

I am planning on using this cover for my 2022 Hobonichi Weeks.

  1. I have this exact cover and it is one of the most beautiful I have in my collection. I was very lucky to have it gifted by a very good friend of mine who was not using it. I have used it for a regular Weeks and a Weeks Mega. The quality of the leather is really excellent!

  2. That’s a beautiful planner, Janet and rust is such a classic colour.
I am also an early adopter of Gillio. I bought my first one in April 2001 in a stationary shop in Paris. It was a black personal planner which was meant to replace my beloved Filofax Winchester. I kept it for about three years and ended up giving it away as it never really pleased me.
I would have never thought at that time that Gillio would become so popular.

I have had many Gillio planners since but I’ve never kept them for long. I think I am definitely a Mulberry addict. I bought my first one in 1982 and I’ve always been in at least one of them since. Their quality is outstanding and has never been challenged by the other brands I’ve used (Filofax, VDS, Berlutti, Vuitton etc).

    1. I had a choice between yellow and rust, so I thought rust, given that I already had gold. I am so glad I chose the rust. The colour is lovely!

      1. I totally agree with you! I’ve had a gold planner. It was lovely but when I compared it with rust side by side I thought the rust was warmer. I’m not a fan of yellow though that I find an in-between tan and gold.
I think you’ve made the right choice.
