Something to ponder

I read this and the first thing I thought was ‘extra quotation mark’ (hmmm), and then I thought ‘I don’t agree with this…but having thought about it a little more, I do think there is something to it.

I have routines for weekdays, workdays, and weekends. I may not have them all worked out on a timetable but I tend to eat the same breakfast every day, watch the same tv programmes most nights, do the washing a couple of times a week. I generally go to bed at more or less the same time and have the same morning and evening routines every day. I do my grocery shopping at the same supermarket and tend to buy similar items every time I shop.

Going away – even for a couple of nights – shakes me out of those routines. I will have a different breakfast at a different time, eat later, wear different clothes, do different things. I go to bed at different times, sleep in a different bed, wake up at a different time. I can leave behind things I need to deal with, let the post pile up a bit and think ‘I’ll do it when I get home’

Even if it is for work, I find that shaking things up a little really helps clear the cobwebs. What do you think?
