Ingenious Tan Leather TN from Atelier Philippe on Etsy

I was sent this TN to review by Jerome from Atelier PHILIPPE on Etsy.

I am not often sent review copies so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try something new.

It came in about three days and I love it! I didn’t know what it would look like so it was a complete surprise! Thank you Atelier Phillippe!

The cover I received is a simple, light and really floppy leather with no visible elastics at all due to a simple plastic card inside.

Jerome sources his leather from, among others, famous French tannery HAAS, which has clients such as Hermès, Chanel, Longchamp, Louis Vuitton and Bottega Veneta. He uses mainly Hermès offcuts. That green cover below is for a Hobonichi.

There are also traditional covers with elastics in Jerome’s store, but this one is really unusual in that the elastics are fastened to a clear plastic card inside. This card then fastens to the leather cover by means of snaps, meaning there are no elastics visible from the outside, just three simple snap studs.

Here is the one I received – it is a lovely light tan colour and very simple and classic.

Of all my TNs, this is the only one I could imagine using as a wallet.

Jerome is at present working on designing linings and interior pockets.

With interior pockets and/or a plastic credit card/zip pocket holder, this would be perfect as a wallet. It is easy to open (no fiddling with elastics) and would remain slim and light in a handbag. It would take a calendar and notebook perfectly.

I imagine this leather would not show much wear as it is textured, but that I will have to test.
