Thanks for that – I now have an almost immovable mental image of Sir Humphrey Appleby (from Yes Minister) saying most of those… The late Nigel Hawthorne on absolutely top form! Particularly the one about something being a “very brave proposal”!

Being a translater for the EU l’ve experienced so many understanding between people of different languages. Not to the extent of the ones listed here though as the people we deal with (diplomats, ministers…) have more common sense. But some situations can be tricky sometimes.
