I absolutely love this. Being Edwardian, it is well over 100 years old and is in perfect condition. It matches my Edwardian commemorative pencil which was made in 1901 to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII and which is in perfect working order.
How cool is this little book? I miss good paper; here in the US, it’s so thin and cheap. Once in a while, I “get a wild hair” as they say, and buy a pack of 32# ivory paper, just to make my own planner refills and have something fine to write on. This book is adorable! I assume you plan to leave it blank…?
But! What does it look like on the inside?
There is a photo in the link below 🙂 It has silk brocade inside the covers and then thick cream paper for the pages. http://thisbugslife.com/2015/07/20/unused-edwardian-leather-diary/
Hi, Janet, I am a faithful reader of your blog for quite some time but this is the first time ever I write a comment, so Hello from me.
I absolutely adore this book. I am a `bird-fanatic´ plus stationary (super)addict and I love old things – so I think my eyes doubled their size when I saw this pictures. How lovely!
P.S. If you ver want to get rid of it, now you know whom to ask….;-))
I am so glad you like my blog! Yes it is lovely isn’t it? The birds on the front are in 3D and in an ivory-like heavy plastic. They are gorgeous. And yes I will let you know of course 🙂
A “heavy plastic” cover from the Edwardian period?? You said “it is well over 100 years old”. Did they make 3D plastic covers at that time?
Ha ha no, but not sure what it is. Perhaps some form of bone. It is definitely not ivory. And it is not bakelite. Or rubber.
