It is a beautiful picture for sure, but looking her into her eyes they signal weariness to me. It will take her a longer period than usual to regain her normal energy with so many puppies to bear and nourish. At least this is what I read from her expression.
Yes I agree – I often see the same look in new mums of human variety. Most of the families I know where dogs have big litters supplement mum’s feeds with bottle feeding as soon as possible. After a few broken nights they
then get the same weariness in their eyes!
