Sometimes people comment on the desk on which I place things for photographs. I have no reason behind using it except that it is the one place with decent light in my whole apartment during the dark winter months. Everywhere else is too gloomy. It does make for a very recognizable background though, which has allowed my wonderful readers (thank you!) to spot photos which have been stolen from my blog and used to advertise companies or sell things on eBay.
I was actually given this desk. My neighbour was throwing things out and asked if I wanted it. Did I ever! It was a battle to get it to fit as it is quite large but I love it. It has good light when the sun is up and, is very cosy with an old-fashioned brass library lamp when it is dark (I am not going to say ‘at night’ because even day is night in Sweden in winter).
It has a gorgeous leather top with gold detailing but is rather worn now. I find that makes it even more beautiful. I do a lot of work at odd hours and a great deal of the work I produce – for my blog, my lessons, the articles I write, my translations – is done at this desk. There is usually a cat (or two) somewhere about on it as I work and it is big enough for all of us.
Each night I lay out my outfit for the next day on my desk so I have no last-minute wardrobe crises at the crack of dawn!
It is usually covered with my computer, iPad, pen holders, Filofaxes and papers. I clear them off for photographs.
Always loved this desk.
I like the desk. It’s a well loved, well used, old fashioned kind of desk. Really nice. Apart from that, I am no judge of ladies bags but they look good
Love the desk. I love old pieces with history. I especially like the “line up of bags”. I read your posting about the black one but did not realize you and THREE of them. They are awesome!
I now only have two as I sold the taupe one to fund another purchase, but they are really stunning bags!
As with so many things, they just don’t make ’em like that any more…
I’ve always admired the bits of your desk that I’ve seen in your posts. Well worn, well used and quite obviously well loved. You were very lucky to get it!
Thank you – yes I was! I couldn’t believe she was throwing it away!
