Words that remain in Swedish

Most common is that the following words remain in Swedish when used in English.

  • Riksdagen
  • Riksbanken
  • krona
  • kronor

An example would be

The Swedish Riksdag voted today in favour of abolishing the congestion charge of 65SEK, imposed on motorists when entering or leaving central Stockholm  The Swedish Riksbank had no comment on this decision. However, a  passerby praised this move, saying,  ‘we appreciate every krona that goes back into our pockets. We pay too much tax as it is!’

The word euro is not capitalised as it is a currency. And in English is it pronounced ‘Ju-ro’
