The Wire

If anyone needs a recommendation on a fantastic tv series to watch, I cannot recommend The Wire enough.

It is gritty and realistic with no heroes, no big stars and rather unsympathetic characters. It has never won any awards. But it is in my opinion it is the best tv series ever made.

I watched the first few episodes with English subtitles because I battled with the accents and the lingo. And I am English speaking! But then I turned them off. And was captivated.

Each series concentrated on a different area – the drug trade, the unions, the political arena, the school system and the media. But the core of characters remained the same throughout.

I won’t say anymore except it is a must see.
