- hubby
- fur babies
- littles (for kids)
- supposably
- irregardless
were among the words chosen [see article here]
I find myself squeamish at
- hubs
- wine mom
- wine o’ clock (though sometimes it is very apt)
- exasperated (used mistakenly instead of exacerbated)
- of the upmost importance (instead of utmost)
- should/would/could of (instead of have)
- loose instead of lose
- girl boss
I don’t mind people using phrases that I wouldn’t use myself – for example, wine mom – because that is a matter of personal preference. People using a simple word or phrase incorrectly, however, makes me sad. I understand that it could be autocorrect, dyslexia, or not having access to good education but I cannot help thinking that in most cases it would be avoidable with more reading and better teaching. As our world becomes more visual and less textual, this will increase.

Always interesting how people (and I’ve been one!) pronounce something they’ve only seen written and not heard in use.
