My immediate thought was that, somehow, that they are all melancholy. A moving towards the end of something. Although I have always found 4pm more melancholy than 8pm. There is something about the late afternoon light, the end of another day. I find the same feeling with late summer, overblown roses, and overripe fruit. Maybe I feel that only because I am in that phase of my life.

I was thinking more about how Thursday is not yet Friday and the road to the weekend is even longer and October makes the road to Christmas even longer (although Halloween is a big plus to me!). I do have to agree with you that 4 pm is more my 8 pm than 8 pm really is.
