…. a truly bonded pair from day one.
We adopted Catrick as a companion for Harley shortly after Ziggy died because Mollie could not cope with Harley’s boisterousness and he was lonely. It can always go either way, but they clicked from the first day.
They are my fourth bonded pair and it is the most beautiful (and scary) thing. I love watching them interact together and I know they have each other 24/7 when we are away at work, or travelling. The only sad part is that one always passes away before the other, and the grief of loss is terrible to watch. But ultimately, love is almost always worth the pain of loss.
Depending on the situation, I never do anything special when a new cat arrives. If the new one is a bit nervous, they have a special bed and their own food and litter in a safe space (a bedroom or the office) for a week or so – no closed doors. But generally our cats have always gotten along after the first day of sniffing and keeping distance.
