Vélosophy is a very interesting Swedish start-up company. They not only use recycled aluminium for their bicycles but also, for every bicycle sold, donate one bicycle to a school girl in a developing country. Girls born in many developing countries never learn to cycle. Having a bicycle helps girls get to school and give them independence. On a side note – I never learned to ride a bicycle. Sweden is a country where many people cycle everywhere, so I have been to lessons given to immigrant women in Stockholm to teach them to ride bicycles as an adult. I found, unfortunately, that sometimes you cannot teach an old dog new tricks!
Vélosophy have a collaboration with Nespresso in which they use over 300 Nespresso pods to make their RE:CYCLE bicycle! Read more here
