I have written about A Word A Day before. It is one of my favourite emails every day. I never fail to learn something!
Last week’s theme was blended words (my favourite of which are blurple (blue + purple) and greige (grey + beige)).

I had never heard about the word “portmanteaux” before. It almost sounds like a French word though the spelling is different.
Any idea where that word comes from?
It is originally from the French Nathalie, and takes an x in the plural form like chateau and gateau. https://thisbugslifedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/screen-shot-2017-06-17-at-16-14-57.png
Ok, I’ve learnt something here 😊
Yes, every word ending in “eau” make their plurial in “eaux”.
It never occurred to me that judder was an amalgamation. You learn something new every day, that’s for sure.
