The strangest thing about my Van Der Spek undyed binder is…

….that for the first time EVER, I am actually using a pen loop in a binder. I have never ever ever EVER managed this before. And it is not something that I intended to do. It just happened and was never an effort. The pen was always squashed against the clasp or the pages or else it was hard to get the pen in and out. For whatever reason, even if I started out the day with a pen in the holder (which was rare), within half an hour I had thrown it into the bottom of my bag and I would spend the rest of the day hunting for it.

I am not sure why this works so well – this loop does not rub on the clasp or the pages, it is half-elasticated so that any pen fits easily and the pen itself is fairly small. This is a Cross pen which Nati Zou gave me and it is just the right proportion for my binder.

  1. The only thing that bugs me (no pun intended) is the marks on the zip fly leaf and I’m not sure why. The marks on the outside add character. Do u know if the zip can be treated, and how? Thanks Janet!
