Sweden is renowned for its cold, dark winters, but I think that’s why so much good stuff comes out of Scandinavia, the lack of things to do in the winter that make you feel happy so people used to create instead. (Not least of which was Abba).

Sweden is indeed very innovative. I have often wondered how they succeeded so well in such a harsh climate, so you are probably correct!
