I’m back!

I took a break from the blog, as you know, but from today I am up and running again!

The primary reason for the break was that we travelled 600km south on the motorbike so my husband could visit his family. Space is very limited so I could not take my computer. I took an iPad for work but I find it really hard to write using the iPad keyboard and the WordPress app. It was also good to take a small breather for inspiration and rest.

We stayed in a small cabin in the woods and it was peaceful but with wifi so I could work.

The bike is very comfortable but I am not sure I could manage more than 600km stretches at a time.

These were the walls of a gas station toilet – the paint was beautifully glossy and pristine, and showed birds of the area.

An old Husqvarna stove. We passed Husqvarna, the town from where the brand comes, on our drive.

This candle smelled nice. I love guavas but you almost never see anything guava-related in Sweden.

This one smelled awful. It reminded me of the student dive bar where I used to work. A bar so awful that when people asked for an ashtray I had to answer ‘you are standing in it’ and where we had to get disinfectant from the local prison to disinfect it on Saturdays and Sundays.

The beautiful town of Karlshamn in Blekinge county

A bench where you can charge your phone

It’s not exactly surf country in terms of waves, but paddle-boarding seems to be popular.

We drove back on August 2nd, and we saw cars from France, Portugal, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Åland. The highest number of cars though, came from Germany and The Netherlands. I guess Sweden is a good holiday destination for outdoor lovers because of the Right of Common Access, where you can fish, camp, roam just about anywhere you wish.

The bike was filthy

Back to a deserted Stockholm

…and the cats (we have a live-in catsitter while we are away)

This was in the centre of Stockholm. Do you think the one bunny fell over or whether he/she was placed that way?

  1. The walls of that gaz station have been decorated by the firm Ploq. They decorate many public places and have a contract with the Shell petrol stations among other companies.
Were you in a Shell gaz station?

    1. Thank you for that Nathalie. I am really happy to know who did it. I am not sure if it was Shell but it must have been. The shop at the filling station was Ploq.

  2. Hi Janet

I would love that Forest cottage as my permanent home. Such a clean country. No garbage around.

  3. What a beautiful trip! I have missed you! I absolutely love the mural with the birds and the plants. Regarding Huskvarna, I thought that they only made chainsaws!… I don’t think I would have come back from the lovely place you were at. Then again, the kittens were probably a good incentive to come back!…

  4. Welcome back Janet, I loved the pics and the rabbits both look the same so I don’t think it was placed like that, of course the worker may have been in a jovial mood when placing them.
