Louis Vuitton A5 notebook as travel journal

This is my Louis Vuitton Gustave MM Notebook in black Epi leather with silver embossing, given to me by a student group some years ago.

I could never figure out what to use it for, because I normally throw away my notebooks and journals when I have finished with them. This one seemed too special to use and then toss, so I waited to use it for something special.

I decided to use it as a travel journal. It holds packing lists, tickets, shopping lists, appointments and receipts/tickets/cards which I normally toss into a box somewhere and promptly forget their location.

What I liked was the durable leather (can really take a beating), soft cover (can bulge around contents) and the elastic closure (doesn’t get damaged in transit). I wish it had a pen loop though.

  1. Good for you for keeping a travel journal! This one is gorgeous! A few years ago, I found a travel journal I had kept the second time I went to the US when I was 16. I read it and there were so many things I had forgotten and that were there. It spurred me on to restart travel journals and I absolutely love them! I put as much detail as possible, addresses, names, places visited, ephemera… Everything goes in! I also print my pictures and put them in a photo album and keep both journal and album together in a safe place!

  2. Lovely Janet. Place for maps, postcards, photos to go into. Come see beautiful Canada, beautiful British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New foundland – Labrador, Churchill – home to polar bears and beluga whales. Busch Gardens BC etc. Gorgeous stunning rocky mountains – best done travelling on the Rocky Moutaineer. In the summer we have two weeks of the ” Fringe Fest” – different plays etc. Shakespeare’s production in a ruined Olde monastery, farmers markets etc.
