Flower mantis

Margaret Neville from Nkutu Valley Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa, found this gorgeous pregnant flower mantis in her lavender garden. Isn’t she beautiful? If one has to have camouflage among flowers, this is the way to go!

Ms Neville named her Miss Frilly Pants. Ms Pants even had a boyfriend, though given that praying mantis usually eat their mates, he probably was not long in this life.

I was intrigued to read that there are many kinds of flower mantis, and that they are often kept as pets. I am not usually a fan of praying mantises myself, but this one is absolutely beautiful. Ms Pants is this one
