Spelling and Spelling Aloud

Nowadays spelling does not have to be a problem. We have spellchecking programmes, online dictionaries such as Onelook and Tyda. We have Google Translate and Google itself to help us. But some more tips could be

  • if you know you have problems spelling some words which you need frequently, keep the two or three most important ones written down somewhere handy in your calendar or near your desk.
  • if you need to spell aloud and you are not sure how to, refer to my previous posts on spelling aloud. Or use countries or cities for the letters (A for Austria, B for Berlin..) as those usually come into your head even if you panic at the sound of an English speaking on the other end of the phone.
