A couple of my handbags have had interior magnetic keyring holders or internal straps holding makeup bags, but this key chain (in my Botkier bag) is the best one I have had. It never gets tangled in anything and is long enough to hold my keys down at my side as I approach the door. When I have travelled I have also clipped my travel document holder to it.
You will see that I now have actual keys back on my bunch, after a couple of years of just having tags. Our beloved digital front door lock malfunctioned so we put the old ‘analogue’ lock back about eight months ago.
Our digital lock was brilliant, because you could use a code or the tag, set temporary codes for people doing work in the apartment or catsitting. You did not have to remember to look and it reminded you to change the battery.
But it started beeping and refusing to unlock. We reset it, reprogrammed it, tightened the screws, cleaned all the surfaces around the door and lock, put new batteries in. Nothing. It would refuse to unlock, leaving us trapped inside or outside several times. A regular locksmith cannot fix a digital lock either – the entire lock needs to be drilled out and replaced by a specialist. So we replaced it before a long road trip where we had a live-in catsitter and could not risk them being trapped either inside or outside the apartment. It took a while to get used to the manual lock again.
