I am an absolute stationery nerd – particularly notebooks and organizers. I don’t buy many fancy pens (thank heavens as I don’t think my wallet would survive) and I am not really a pen nerd, though I love looking at pens as works of art.
For work I tend to grab whatever is at hand and for private I tend to use vintage pencils or cheerful pens like Gelly Roll Stardust pens and colored Frixion erasables. All my truly lovely pens have been given to me by the same special person. I have used the same Montblanc Meisterstück fountain pen for 17 years.
When I grew up there were no ball pens so at school I used a Hifra fountain pen. You really learned how to write properly in those days. All those hours painstakingly learning to go soft on the way up and hard on the way down as you learned to write in cursive.
As a lefty though ink is a bit of a minefield for me as my hand often smears over still-wet ink.
On Christmas Day when this parcel was give to me, the square box was intriguing. What I was not expecting was to open it and find an amazing Parker 5th Pen in red and gold. And I love it!!! Why?
- gorgeous gold accents
- nice and weighty
- the rubbery feel gives a good grip
- refills easily replaced
- because it is a fibre tip not a fountain pen – no smearing or drying times.
- no ink on my fingers
