HOTD #42 – Chloé Elvire

photo 3-6I have three of these – an elephant/taupe, a black and a brown. This is the brown one, which has gold hardware.

The leather is thick and roughly grained. It just gets better the more you use it. This one is very battered but just looks more gorgeous every day.

This bag has 2 rolled top handles, top zip closure, patent black zipper pulls, 4 leather covered metal feet on the base of the bag, 2 large exterior pockets with top magnetic snap closures (these hold A4 size) and several front pockets with flap push-through closures. There are several pockets and pouches inside.

The only con is that it is very heavy. All the pros make it well worthwhile – it is actually better designed than the Mulberry Roxanne, which explains its much higher price tag.

Regarding pockets it has an A4 pocket on each side of the bag and slit pockets and flap pockets on the front, plus several pockets and pouches inside. If you like to secrete your goodies in different pockets – this is the bag for you!

Designed by Phoebe Philo, it really reflects the glory days of Chloe handbags. Comes from the same era as the Paddington and the Silverado. The nice thing about this bag is that the only clue to the designer is the ‘Chloé’ written on the front flap closure.

Each of the front flap pockets has a slit pocket behind it.

Showing the large A4-sized pocket. There is one on either side of the bag and they fasten with very strong magnetic studs.

  1. That is an absolutely gorgeous bag – really love the shade of it. Heavier ones tend to be a deal-breaker for me now, given how bad I am at overloading bags with the kitchen sink and everything else!

    1. It’s an antique leather-topped desk my neighbour gave me Josh. She was throwing it out and I just jumped at it. I love it. The leather must have had about a hundred years of people writing on it. Right now in the middle of Swedish winter it is the only place that gets enough light to photograph anything remotely well.

  2. That is a really lovely bag. I love the heavy and grained look of the leather. It has a certain softness to it that looks “squishy” but maybe that is just the way it looks to me! That is a style and colour which I would absolutely love :-). Last night, got to playing around on the Céline website! The Céline Luggage and Phantom are to die for! Completely out of my budget, but fun to look at.
