How often do you change your linen?

There are frequent articles in newspapers and magazines about how it is quite common for people to change their sheets once a year and wear their bras for a month. I also see articles saying how often you should change your toothbrush and toss your mascara.

I don’t usually take anything those articles say as hard and fast rules, and do things when I feel they need to be done. Because each day is different, I often do things when I have some time free, rather than on a specifica day.

My routines are generally

Daily

  • shower
  • remove makeup
  • change underwear (including bras)
  • change tops (jeans and trousers are every second or third wear)
  • garbage out
  • scoop cat litter

Twice weekly

  • wash hair
  • laundry

Weekly

  • remove nail laquer and repaint nails
  • shave
  • change linen
  • change bathroom towels
  • change kitchen towels
  • recycling
  • big house clean
  • sharpen eyeliner
  • sharpen pencils

Fortnightly

  • wash cat sandbox
  • replace or wash all cleaning cloths
  • refill cat food containers (we have storage containers in the kitchen and big bags of food in the store room)

Monthly

  • decant medicines into a pillbox
  • big shop of cleaning supplies

Every three months

  • new toothbrush
  • new mascara (although it is more likely to be every two months, or as soon as it gets dry and clumpy)
  • replace filters in air purifier

Every six months

  • take clothes in for altering and dry cleaning
  • wash sofa blankets and curtains

Annually

  • replace bras
  • wash sofa covers

  1. All are reasonable, although I do some more frequently. The only one I take exception to is the catbox: FORTNIGHTLY ? – no way. DAILY!
