This is a book I recommend to all my students. It is a reference book with fantastic explanations, examples, diagrams, cartoons and definitions.
If you like grammar or need a reference book for both written and spoken English, this is right up your alley.
On the left is the older version, while on the right is the latest one. Both are absolutely brilliant.

I agree with you Janet that grammar book is a very good. II have recommended it to my students for years and l can honestly say that it sits among my favourite English grammar books.

I find the first edition much better though. The new edition is very confusing and more difficult to use. l don’t think they improved the use of this method by modernizing it. But that’s just my opinion.
I have only really used the older one (still do), though I review books for Longman’s and they sent me the newer one a few years ago. I was lucky enough to be given a few boxes of the older ones when they changed their ‘look’ so my students are given one when they start with me.
