Swedish sandwich cake was a huge shock when I first saw one. My mother used to call sponge cake with jam in the middle a ‘sandwich sponge’ or ‘sandwich cake’ so I was expecting something like that. Swedish sandwich cake is savoury, and very very rich. I found it overwhelming at first, but now I have grown to love it. I can only eat a small slice though.


I honestly don’t understand how people can eat or enjoy sandwiches in general. But that sort of sandwitch is one of a kind!
Are they popular in Sweden?
