
These are two of South Africa’s most venomous snakes, a female boomslang to the left (seen because the female boomslang is brown and the male is green) and a black mamba to the right. It is almost unknown to see them together.
As an example, you collapse within 45 minutes after a single bite from a black mamba, and die within 8 hours if you have not received the anti-venom.
What is the difference between poisonous and venomous?
If you bite it and you die, it is poisonous; if it bites you and you die, it is venomous.
