Stoffel the badger had been kept by a foolish person as a domestic pet which means that he can never live completely in the wild. He, naturally, was not suitable as a domestic pet because he was too wild, and he was too tame to be released into the wild. He ended up in a sanctuary where he kept escaping and being attacked by other animals. Just before this video was made, he had been badly mauled by lions.

One story I heard about him is that a keeper was napping in Stoffel’s ‘Alcatraz’, when Stoffel tried to roll him towards the wall to climb up and escape!

This video contains an epic line which I have never heard before, it has to be said:

‘Brian knew he had to get his badger under control’
