I saw the above on Instagram, and for me it is the perfect illustration of equity. People often confuse equity and equality.
“It’s not about everybody getting the same thing,” Cynthia Silva Parker says “It’s about everybody getting what they need in order to improve the quality of their situation.”
In teaching, equality means giving each pupil the same resources, while equity means giving each pupil the resources they need in order to learn to the best of their ability.
