Olympic favourites

I am not much for the Olympics. I tend to see the headlines and know more or less what is going on. If a special story comes up I tend to watch. I used to follow Michael Phelps, Caster Semenya and Oscar Pistorius, for example. It happens that I get hooked on an event because it is on when I happen to be passing the tv or sitting down with a cup of tea and then I can’t stop watching. A couple of years ago I got hooked the decathlon because I had no idea it was so gruelling.

I also loved Eric the Eel, who won a wildcard draw, had never seen an Olympic pool before, and somehow won his 100m freestyle heat. Other of my favourites were Eddie the Eagle and the Jamaican Bobsled team from the 1988 Winter Olympics.

This year my favourites were the Australian breakdancer who was received 0 points across three events, and the Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec who stood there with no special equipment and a hand in his pocket, and won silver. He also loves cats!
