I am not really a bird or butterfly person but now and then I am stuck with the striking colour and plumage of their species. I have read that birds can recognise colours and patterns, making it easier for them to identify other birds. The colourful birds are generally the males of the species. Darwin concluded that color differences between sexes in birds (also known as sexual dichromatism) results largely from female preference for bright colors in males
