Mac vs. PC

Bottom to top: 13″ HP PC, 17″ MacBook Pro (2009), 15″ Macbook Pro (2011), 13″ Retina MacBook Pro (2015), iPad (2012), iPad Mini (2013). And of course a furry backside, because my cats never leave me alone…

People often ask me what I use and which I prefer. Well, the short answer is I use both and these days I way prefer Mac.

For work I have an HP PC, and for personal I have a MacBook.

I am now using a 2015 MacBook Pro 13 inch. I use it for translation, lesson creation, blogging, reading books, watching YouTube and DVDs, listening to music, working with photographs, watching Netflix, shopping, banking – you name it. It is very portable. The screen resolution is amazing. Mac is very intuitive and it does everything for you. Network problems just diagnose themselves. The best part is that you can just close the lid when you are done. No rebooting, it never hangs. You just open it and start to work. It is a very graphical interface, short on text. No software to buy though and no virus protection necessary (though I do have it).  Macs are way more expensive than PCs but they come with software already loaded and also seem to last much longer than PCs.

The only external software I use is Microsoft Office, and that is because my clients use it.

I never baby my computers and I use them all the time.
I have covers on my iPad Mini and my 13″ Retina MacBook Pro. My regular-sized iPad has a keyboard that forms the cover but I don’t use it so much anymore since I bought my 13″ Retina MacBook because I can carry that around more easily than the larger ones. All of these still work and all of them are still in use.

When I started working with computers for a living in about 1988, Apples and PCs were very different beasts. Now the user interfaces are very similar but I still prefer Mac.
