I had a lovely traditional Swedish Christmas celebration yesterday with my Swedish family – lots of laughs and great food (rice pudding, ginger biscuits, saffron buns, meatballs, mince pies, sausages, potato au gratin, vegetables, Julmust*, rhubarb pie and whipped cream – phew!). Today I am off to British friends for a traditional British Christmas day (turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes and other veggies, cranberry sauce, Christmas mince pies, Christmas pud, trifle, paper hats, and crackers! No brussels sprouts for me thanks – ewwww). Not sure where I am going to fit it in but I am sure going to try!
* Julmust – IKEA stores around the world sell it. It has a thick beer-like consistency, is made from hops and barley and even outsells Coca-Cola during the Holidays, leaving Coke at 50% of normal sales at a time of year that is normally peak sales period.
