I always wanted a Mason Pearson boar bristle brush. It is an icon, super-expensive, and apparently the best. I tried a cheaper Denman equivalent, but those kinds of bristles cannot get through thick, curly hair. I like a brush to stimulate my scalp and the boar bristles can’t even get there through my hair.
For the past 25 years I have had this Denman D4 9 row brush. It became very popular again a few years ago, but I brush my hair with this before washing to removed tangles and loose hairs. I need a new one because the rubber is starting to perish, but I don’t really use it that often. They are pretty cheap, and great quality. The rubber part slides out easily for cleaning, and some people with curly hair remove every second row of bristles.
Next to that is a mini Tangle Teezer. I use this in the shower if my hair is too tangled to comb through (my hair has loud opinions about certain shampoos and becomes very knotty). I don’t know how these work but they are magic. I used to have the original one (without the handle) but switched to this little one a few years ago
This very large wide-toothed comb is great for combing after washing. It allows me to comb through my styling product without breaking up the curls
The other-wide tooth comb is a Denman Anti-Static comb and I use this for travelling and also to comb through conditioner or hair mask in the shower if my hair is less tangled.
I always air dry my hair so I don’t use a blow dryer unless my hair needs to be dried a little before going to bed or out in the cold. I do have one though, a Parlux. I also have GHD hair straighters which I use maybe once every 2 years. I am not sure if they still work.
