Last weekend we drove 600km south on Friday for a family birthday. It’s a long trip each year, but an important one. Unfortunately, I came down with a cold on the Saturday evening, so the 600km drive north again on Sunday was awful. It was pouring rain and I felt too sick to get out of the car to stretch my legs, or eat. I taught from home for two days, by which time my husband came down with it too. Luckily it was just your common-or-garden cold, because the seasonal flu this year is a really bad one. I normally don’t take the annual vaccinations, but this year I am considering it. There is constant rain at the moment and so many people are ill.
This is a very tastefully done Christmassy reception. I don’t know if they did it themselves, or hired someone, but it is absolutely perfect.
I am not shopping much on seasonal sales this year, but I could not resist this acacia cutting board, at 50% discount.
I also bought these two at 50% off. I love Biotherm and they do often have good specials. The fragrance is lovely (so fresh and citrusy) and it moisturises so well without being sticky. My skin gets so dry and itchy in winter.
Mollie has been sleeping in a battered old cardboard box for oever a year. She chewed a comfy headrest for herself, and refuses to sleep anywhere else.
In an attempt to lure her out so I could toss the box, I bought a beautiful straw basket. Mollie will not look at it, but Catrick made himself at home immediately. They sleep on tissue paper that comes in parcels. Firstly they play in it, and then it goes into their boxes because they like the way it crinkles. As soon as it becomes flat and worn, we replace it.
Harley and Catrick. They are usually together. Mollie is more independent and likes her own company.
My friend took these photographs of the Jacaranda in my hometown. The red tree is a coral tree (Erythrina lysistemon), native to South Africa. The colours make me so homesick!
