We stayed at Crawford Lodge in Cintsa/Chintsa on the Wild Coast of South Africa. It was the one place we walked for miles, explored the river, swam in the sea and lounged on the pool chairs. It is a long way to the nearest shops, so we just stayed on site and did our thing. There is a restaurant, dining room, small shop, and laundry service. I read through the magazines I had been carrying for weeks, got stuck into a book, and felt myself relax.
The coastal landscape and surroundings are more or less the same along the Wild Coast, although the vegetation becomes way more tropical the closer you get to Kwazulu Natal. The beaches however are all endless, deserted wide stretches off-season and the endless waves are all blissfully beautifully similar. I was born and grew up in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is the poorest province of South Africa and less-known by tourists, who gravitate to Cape Town and the Garden Route. But to me the Eastern Cape is the most beautiful.
