I am French and I didn’t know that… I did check in French how each inhabitant would be called and I found it: People from Niger are called Nigérien and Nigérienne and people from Nigéria are called Nigérian and Nigériane. In French there is a difference in pronunciation between the two peoples, so it would be easier for a French person to then tell the difference.
