I wanted to thank everyone for all the wishes and thoughts when I had Covid-19 BA.5 a couple of weeks ago. I finally tested negative after 8 days of being sick, and I remained indoors for a further 4 days just in case. After two and a half years of being careful, I probably caught Covid the first time I was in a crowd, at Midsummer.
I knew the day I woke up with a high fever that it was not a cold, or flu. I did not lose my sense of taste and smell but I did have fever, a rash, very sore throat and headache, and dizziness. I was also incredibly tired and lay like a lump on the sofa for over a week. Thanks to the vaccine and the fact that the virus seems to be largely milder now, I recovered quickly. Sweden has rapidly increasing cases (as do many other countries), but no new restrictions. Yet.
Coming out of 2020/2021, my working patterns have changed completely. I now have clients in other cities and countries, and so I still teach primarily online. About 20% of my teaching is face-to-face. But the thing I have noticed most with my students, colleagues, friends and myself is that 2020 and 2021 are a blur. People cannot remember what year things happened because it was just a fuzzy mess. 2019 is the last year we had with clear signposts – sporting events, seasonal celebrations, awards ceremonies, school and work actually being at school and work, holidays. Without those signposts, the year just flows by endlessly.
So glad you are doing better. You still had impressive symptoms despite being vaccinated…
…or maybe I am a bit of a drama queen!
I don’t think you are… When I got vaccinated, I had plenty of side effects including fever and it was not fun at all… When I was a kid, having a fever meant staying home from school, watching TV all day and being pampered by my mother… It was a lot more fun back then!… It seems that Covid hits people very differently, so please don’t apologize because you are not a drama queen!
Glad to hear you are on the mend.
