Pashmina
- as a blanket when flying long-haul (airplane blankets always smell like vomit!)
- as a sarong on the beach (I have a pretty pink one – above -that doesn’t look weird when used as a sarong)
- as a blanket on a hotel bed when the covers don’t keep you warm enough
- as a headscarf on an extremely cold day (I live in Sweden!)
- as a scarf or shawl
- as a knee blanket
- in lieu of a cardigan
- in lieu of a towel in an emergency
- Note: buy the best one you can. Real pashmina (from the Pashmina goat) is very light. The best mix is 70% Pashmina and 30% silk

- on heels, knees and elbows
- Can also be used as a lip balm, a lip gloss, and a cheek and eye gloss
Freezer bags in different sizes
- to put a wet mini umbrella in so that I can put it back into my bag on a rainy day.
- to hold a wet bathing suit when travelling back from the pool or beach
- to hold litter, used underwear and shoes when travelling
- to put over my head when using an intensive hair mask. Put a towel over it and blow it with a hairdryer.
- use big ones for dirty laundry during your stay.
Scissors
Scissors are something I never travel without, unless I travel with only hand luggage, in which case they are not allowed and I buy a cheap pair at my destination
- cut labels off new purchases
- cut out articles from magazines and newspapers
- use to open packaging
- cut open tubes so you can get the last bit of product out
- cut pill ‘cards’ once you have taken pills
- cut hanging threads off clothes
- cut plasters for those walking blisters!

Hello Jane, thank you so much for all your posts. They are always funny or interesting or both. But this one is dangerous! You suggest here to put a plastic bag over your head! That can kill you! Everyone should be aware of this fact but perhaps someone is not and reads your tipp for tending to your hair… Please change the text.
