I’ve been reading in your blog for many years and learnt much from your words – my thanks to you. I’m was wondering about your thoughts on Archbishop Tutu’s life?
I was so sad when he died. I met him a few years ago when he signed my copy of his book. He was so kind. For me he was always a symbol of the honest ANC, even after the party descended into state capture and corruption. He was never afraid to criticise and chastise anyone, even his own party colleagues. For me, as long as The Arch was alive, there was hope for South Africa and for the ANC. He had a wonderful sense of humour. He utterly loved his wife. The sight of his plain cheap coffin made me cry – he was true to himself right to the end. Hamba Kahle tata.
Generosity, kindness, symbolism, honesty, fearlessness, criticism, hope, humour, fidelity, love, frugality, infinite truth.
‘…No sun outlasts its sunset
But will rise again
And bring the dawn …’
