As we get older

I have found that as I have grown older, I don’t care what other people think. I spend all my spare time with no makeup on, I wear what I want, I use a paper planner in a sea of digital, I am an unapologetic cat lady. I figure when I am on my deathbed, I am not going to care what strangers thought. I will instead be happy knowing I lived my life on my own terms and loved with my whole heart.

  1. Hola Janet, I LOVED the pic, its message, and your comment. Every bit of content resonated with me. I stopped coloring my hair in 2008. It’s white, white, white–and I get compliments regularly. Congratulations on your marriage. I’m inspired by your being “single” and loving that life. Your words and actions inspire me: “Being alone made me more complete as a person. So what I looked for in a partner changed, and also when you are older you give space to someone in your life in a different way.”

    Un abrazo,
    Genie 🙂

  2. Well all these things are liberating and are the up side to aging. I won’t go into details, but I had a bad upbringing as a result of my feuding parents and my father’s brutality. I left home at 17 and thrived. My childhood taught me to go my own way in religion, morality, and lifestyle. It’s a good way to live and has worked well for me and as I have always endeavoured not to be self-centred and be a loyal friend, I have several good friends. People respect honesty and openness.sk good luck with going your own way. Its a great means to getting peace, happiness and contentment.

      1. Thank you! Ironically, I think it suits me because I was so happy being single. I have always been independent, and looked after myself. After a long time being single I also learned to love and believe in myself, without a partner to give me the validation and love I needed. Being alone made me more complete as a person and I didn’t need someone else to complete me. So what I looked for in a partner changed, and also when you are older you give space to someone in your life in a different way. My husband is younger than I am, very different in some ways, and very alike in others. So we have the best of all worlds and just click, somehow.
